BANJARA EMBROIDERY

I have started a new project.

It is a Banjara embroidery. There are around 30 to 40 stitches in this type of embroidery. But Most of the stitches are surface embroidery stitches with a different name. For instance:
1.Vele - Chain stitch
2.Maalikanth - Herringbone stitch
3.Bakhiya -Back stitch

It originated from AndraPradesh and is used by Lambadis or Tribals. They use mirrors, shells, beads etc., They use the primary colours like red ,blue ,yellow etc, You can see the full details of this embroidery here.

I have taken this project from Needle and Thread magazine. After a lot of confusion with respect to type of cloth and color of thread I have zeroed in this blue color crepe silk saree which is a light weight saree. I have used pearl cotton thread. The design is border design.
Will post the completed  one very soon.
